UFC vet Sarah Kaufman returns to Invicta FC to face Pannie Kianzad in a bounce back match for both fighters. Invicta FC 27 takes place January 13th at the Scottish Rite Temple in Kansas City, MO with a webcast at UFC Fight Pass.
18-4 Sarah Kaufman is best known for going 1-2 with one “no contest” in the UFC. In those two years in the UFC her sole win was a unanimous decision over Leslie Smith while her final fight in the Octagon was a split decision loss to Valentina Shevchenko in December 2015. Fifteen months later Kaufman made her return to MMA when she picked up a unanimous decision over Jessica Rose-Clark in regional promotion Battlefield Fighting Championships last March. Pannie Kianzad holds a record of 8-2 with her two losses being her two most recent fights. After defeating Jessica Rose-Clark in July 2015 Kianzad took a loss to former Invicta FC champion and now UFC fighter Tonya Evinger that September, a fight Kianzad los by TKO. Kianzad took sixteen months off before her most recent fight, a loss to Raquel Pa’aluhi a year ago.

In the co-main event Vanessa Porto faces Mariana Morais. 19-8 Porto has twice fought for a Invicta FC title but lost to Barb Honchak in 2013 and for an interim title lost to Jennifer Maia in 2016. Porto went on to lose to Agnieszka Niedzwiedz before turning her career around with a TKO of Milana Dudieva in December, just five weeks ago. Morais enters this fight with a record of 12-5, her only previous fight in Invicta being a TKO loss to Roxanne Modafferi in 2015 while her most recent was a loss to Ariane Lipski in KSW last October.
