The second quarterfinal in the Bellator Heavyweight Grand Prix is now set, as Roy Nelson takes on Matt Mitrione at Bellator 194.
Officials confirmed the fight for February 16 from the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut, airing live on Paramount Network.
The first quarterfinal takes place in January with Quinton “Rampage” Jackson facing off against Chael Sonnen.
Nelson (23-14) was triumphant in his debut with Bellator earlier this year, besting Javy Ayala. During his career, “Big Country” has won The Ultimate Fighter, defeated the likes of Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Antonio “Bigfoot Silva,” and finished 19 of his 23 wins.
Mitrione (12-5), who was on the same season of The Ultimate Fighter with Nelson, knocked Fedor Emelianenko out this past June. Prior to beginning his MMA career, Mitrione played for the New York Giants and Minnesota Vikings in the NFL after earning all-Big Ten honors with Purdue University.
The rest of the lineup is expected to be announced in the coming days. The main card begins at 9 p.m. ET following prelims on Bellator.com.
