PANCRASE 283 – 12/18/2016: Bontorin vs Kasugai confirmed

Rogerio Bontorin

A Brazilian Rogerio Bontorin will take on Takeshi Kasugai from Shimura Dojo in Pancrase 283.

Bontorin is the winner of “ROAD TO PANCRASE” four-men tournament took place in IMORTAL FC back in July. A 24-year old submitted both opponents in this tournament and improved his undefeated record to 10-0.

He was supposed to fight Mamoru in October but was forced to scratch due to the injury.

Bontorin’s opponent, Kasugai, is a veteran of 25 pro MMA fights. Kasugai has been fighting in smaller DEEP shows and HEAT partly because he lives in Gifu, and that is the reason why, although he had a very good record, not many noticed Kasugai till he fought Hiromasa Ogikubo in VTJ 4th. Kasaugai came up short in this fight but surprised everyone by taking Shooto Pacific Rim champ to all the way to three rounds. In the next fight, Kasugai defeated UFC veteran Motonobu Tezuka followed by a win over Pancrase flyweight champ Kiyotaka Shimizu in VTJ in Osaka.

These two big wins got him to Pancrase. Kasugai beat Yasutaka Koga in his Pancrase debut took place in June.

Kasugai currently ranks sixth in the Pancrase flyweight ranking.
